Discover Santiago do Cacem in the Alentejo Region of Portugal

Mirobriga: An old Celtic settlement much Romanised after the 1st century of our era. It is now an important archaeological station essential to a proper under standing of the Roman presence in Portugal.

Discover the Blue Coast of Portugal

The Sado Estuary is an area abundant in life and it is a point of encounter of river and ocean that has allowed channels, creeks and mud-flats to Costa de Caparica fossil cliffs, become home both to mammals such as the otter; the badger and the fox; and to about a hundred species of birds including the white stork, the marsh harrier and the heron.

Your Private Beach in Portugal

Fado is a Portuguese music specialty, sounding like the sirens of Greek myths and singing of the sea and of longing. In Portugal, it seems as if time stands still.

Your Private Beach in Portugal

Portugal’s beaches offer you an intimate beach vacation of times gone by. This is the slow, deliberate life of the coastal fisherman, and he is happy to share his bounty with you. Beautiful scenery, unspoiled blue waters, fresh food, friendly people and the ocean are all you need. And the lack of televisions, cell phones and city life doesn’t hurt one bit.

Your Private Beach in Portugal

The strip of coastline just south of Lisbon is one of the most beautiful in the world. Pine tree forests mixed with eucalyptus give way to grassy headlands dotted with aloe plants, semi-arid foliage, and desert flowers. Cliffs as high as 100-feet drop down to impossibly blue waters, lapping lazily in small private coves that seem to be untouched except for the sea life found in the rocky terrain. All this is just minutes away from the quaint and clean villages bustling with local life. The village of Zambujeira do Mar, about 160 miles south of Lisbon, has some of the most dramatic cliffs and beaches in the area, and the drive there is fantastic.

Your Private Beach in Portugal

There is still a place in Western Europe where you can find yourself on a wild secluded beach with water as blue as the Caribbean. Your private lagoon is situated between small quaint villages where you can find freshly grilled fish and succulent crustaceans among other seafood delicacies for just a few American dollars. You can sample excellent local wines and ports with the mix of locals in the village bars before making your way to your impeccably clean room for the night, with windows open to the sound of the surf. The only place where looking west across the Atlantic Ocean and longing for loved ones lost as sea is a national pastime. Portugal welcomes you.

Latest reviews of Setubal, Portugal

Latest reviews of Setubal, Portugal

Officially considered one of the most beautiful bays of the world, the bay of Setubal is an absolutely fabulous sight. The city is now recreating several vacation options. If you're there, check out the Setubal Express, a tourism train that runs on a day trip into Alentejo, and serves regional cuisine on board. The dinner part is an absolutely fabulous experience as it is served while the train returns to Setubal on a one hour leg through a nature preserve during sunset.
There is another train that runs from there, and allows you to have lunch on the train, then it stops beside a river and you can get on board a boat and have dinner as the boat returns through the Sado river. I highly recommend this trip also.
Among the other things to do, (although I didn't get much time) kite sailing, night parties (fireworks from boats) they have night boats that set sail from the port with music, DJ's open bars like floating discos etc these start at around 10pm and go on till sunrise. Golfing or just relaxing at the beach.
I think this is an interesting experience compared to the usual visits to Portugal. I recommend it.
